Apply to canvas, panel, wood, plaster, walls, and other clean, firm indoor surfaces. Use thin as a mineral ground or build up for sculptural texture. For best results with heavy relief, we recommend rigid supports like wood panel, board, or wall surfaces.

Yes. Once cured, you can paint over the mineral surface with water-based paints, pigments, and mixed media. You can also pigment the paste before applying. Because the medium dries from dark to light, light colors dry softer and more natural than they appear when wet.

For heavy thicknesses, apply in 3mm layers, letting each layer dry before applying the next. Thicker applications may warp and/or “weep”, which looks like movement in the surface, and water glistening or pooling on the surface. The water is moving through the cure with less surface area to escape. Water can be removed with a towel held gently on the surface. Applying thick will take longer to dry and cure fully. The material is alive and natural, varying effects should be expected at thicker applications due to a natural cure cycle.

Supernatural Studio is formulated without plastic binders, VOCs, or crystalline silica and conforms to ASTM D-4236 for art-material labeling. As with any art material, avoid eye contact, avoid breathing dust when sanding, and follow the instructions on the label.

As it cures, the mineral chemistry reacts with CO₂ and permanently locks it into the material as stable carbonate minerals — essentially becoming stone. The carbon is stored in the finished surface itself, not offset somewhere else.

Use SUPERNATURAL STUDIO straight from the jar as a mineral ground or molding paste. Apply with a palette knife, trowel, mottling brush, or scraper. Build thin for a smooth ground or thicker for sculptural relief. The material goes on darker and dries lighter as it cures into a hard, stone-like mineral surface.

Store sealed. Press the liner directly onto unused material before closing to reduce air exposure. Avoid breathing dust when sanding. Use good ventilation and keep out of reach of children.
